The Educational Psychology and Educational Technology (EPET) program at Michigan State University (MSU) in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education, invites applications for an assistant or associate professor in Educational Technology. The position is a 9-month tenure system appointment with an August 16, 2017 start date. EPET is a nationally ranked graduate program that produces scholars and leaders in the study of human learning and development and/or in the development and study of diverse technologies supporting learning and teaching. It emphasizes rigorous scholarship and diverse analytic perspectives on learning, development, and technology embedded in culture and society. We seek candidates with exceptional promise to understand and improve the use of powerful technologies to support learning and teaching in P-16 contexts. We welcome applicants who study technologically mediated teaching and learning in a range of contexts, including formal or informal settings, face-to-face or online environments, and across different subject-matter disciplines. The specific focus of candidates’ interest is open; however, we are interested in candidates who study how people learn and teach in innovative learning spaces, such as flexible classrooms, digital games, creative computing, virtual environments, and makerspaces.

Duties:

  • Develop a nationally recognized, externally funded program of research.
  • Teach doctoral and masters level courses in areas of expertise and department curricular need and in all modes of delivery.
  • Recruit, advise and mentor graduates student at the masters and doctoral levels.
  • Participate in department, college, university, professional, and community service activities.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have an earned relevant doctoral degree or provide evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed prior to the start of the appointment in educational technology, learning sciences, or a related field. Successful candidates will show the potential to engage in scholarly activity relevant to teaching and learning in technology-supported settings in P-16. Experience teaching courses in an online setting is preferred.
