Executive Function, Math, and Equity Postdoctoral Position: We are seeking to hire a postdoctoral researcher to work on a project called Spark Math: Igniting the Next Generation of Powerful Learners. This project will develop a comprehensive system of supports for sixth grade mathematics instruction for students from historically disenfranchised groups. This work integrates executive function activities, math concepts, inclusive design, and educational technology.
The postdoctoral associate will work with Professors Yuko Munakata (UC Davis), Priti Shah and Jamaal Matthews (University of Michigan), and Ben Katz (Virginia Tech), as well as with the project’s broader team of educators and developers, including Professors David Webb and Kathy Perkins (CU Boulder) and Krista Marks and Brent Milne (Saga Education). Responsibilities will include project development and management (including developing and testing executive function activities and supports in the context of math units on ratios, expressions, and equations), mentorship of research assistants, and dissemination of findings. Applicants should have a PhD in Psychology, Education, or related field by the start date and expertise in executive function, learning, and/or inclusive design. The position is for up to two years with an ideal start date in Fall 2021. Location is flexible, with possibilities including remote work or relocation to be near UC Davis, University of Michigan, Virginia Tech, or CU Boulder. Salary is commensurate with experience and consistent with NIH NRSA stipends.
Interested individuals should send a CV, letter of interest, representative publications, statement of contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and contact information for three references to email@example.com. We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
