The Yale University Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) invites applicants for a postdoctoral associate position for up to two years. This position will focus on researching the effects of the Summer Institutes on Scientific Teaching for undergraduate science faculty. Specifically, the postdoctoral associate will research instructors’ implementation of evidence-based teaching methods (e.g., active learning, formative assessment, inclusive teaching), student outcomes, and the influence of institutional environment on classroom change.

Applicants should have or expect to complete a Ph.D. before starting the postdoctoral position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social sciences such as evaluation or psychology, as well as experience in experimental methodology, longitudinal design, and web-based data collection (using programs such as Qualtrics). S/he should have an interest in studying the effect of training programs on college instructors’ teaching methods, institutional environment, and student outcomes. Candidates from STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields with an interest in discipline based education research will also be considered.

The candidate should be able to work well both independently and in a team, and must be comfortable managing multiple competing deadlines and reporting relationships. The candidate should have a desire to work from an interdisciplinary perspective and collaborate with colleagues across traditional academic divisions. Proficiency with advanced statistical techniques (such as multilevel modeling and structural equation modeling) is required. Demonstrated involvement in STEM-related projects and/or multi-site grant-funded research projects is preferred.
