Open Rank Faculty Position in Learning Sciences. The Department of Psychological, Health, & Learning Sciences at the University of Houston seeks scholars for a tenured or tenure-track faculty appointment at the academic rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. This position will be housed in our doctoral program in Measurement, Quantitative Methods, and Learning Sciences. Priority areas of study for this position are in learning sciences with an emphasis on motivation, identity development, diverse learners, STEM learning, student success, educational technology, or educational disparities.  Applicants with ability to teach in areas such as educational disparities and social justice, advanced topics in development, STEM learning, social and emotional Learning, or self-regulation are especially encouraged to apply. Qualifications: Applicants for this position must hold a doctoral degree in educational psychology, learning sciences, or a closely-related discipline. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of innovative research published in peer-reviewed journals, a sustained record or potential of external funding, evidence of effective teaching ability, commitment to student success, and service to the profession. The candidate’s qualifications must be commensurate with appointment as an Assistant, Associate, or full Professor.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include conducting innovative research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals; securing external funding to support an interdisciplinary program of research; rigorous teaching of doctoral courses; mentoring doctoral students; chairing and serving on doctoral committees; presenting research at professional meetings; and service to the Department, College, University, community, and profession.

Appointment: This is a nine-month appointment. Review of candidates will begin soon and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2020. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience and will include benefits.
