The Department of Psychology at Christopher Newport University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Psychology, effective August 2024. Area of specialization is open, and the department is particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching interests overlap with topics related to diverse populations and equity. Applicants must be committed to a teacher-scholar model, demonstrate the potential for outstanding teaching with students from varying backgrounds, and maintain a productive research program. Candidates also must be committed to advising and mentoring undergraduate students. Teaching responsibilities would include teaching one or more core courses in introductory psychology, statistics, and/or research methods, as well as courses in the candidates’ areas of expertise. The nominal teaching load for tenure track appointments is 3 courses per semester.

A Doctoral degree in Psychology or a closely related field is required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. In some cases, exceptionally well-qualified candidates may be considered for appointment at a higher rank, and ABD candidates who will not hold the doctorate by the time of appointment may be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor.
