The Psychology Department at Missouri State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2013. Application review will begin March 18, 2013, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Ph.D. in Psychology is required (ABD considered, with expected completion by start date). Area of expertise is open; however, the department has needs in the areas of educational psychology, social psychology, or experimental psychology (with emphasis in learning). 

Successful candidates will have skills consistent with effective use of technology, leading large sections, working collaboratively with multiple constituents, and effectively teaching introductory psychology. Teaching responsibilities include coordinating, teaching, and evaluating the department’s large blended introductory psychology course and training undergraduate learning assistants. The position involves working effectively with a team of faculty to deliver a high-quality, engaging, and consistent experience across sections of introductory psychology. Duties also include advising students and contributing to other departmental undergraduate or graduate teaching needs, including on-line course development as needed. Scholarship responsibilities include developing an active research program and mentoring undergraduate and master’s students in research. Beyond leadership and assessment of introductory psychology, service is expected within and beyond the department.
