The Center for Psychology in Schools and Education (CPSE), an office of the Education Directorate for the American Psychological Association, seeks an Associate Director for Strategic Outreach and Partnerships. This is a 20 hour per week, part time position eligible for benefits.

CPSE promotes the application of high-quality psychological science to programs and policies in pre-K through grade 12 education. We achieve this by developing relevant and impactful tools, workshops, and presentations for educators in both formal and informal learning environments, as well as for policymakers working on educational issues. As a liaison within APA and with national educational and scientific societies, federal agencies, and the general public, CPSE plays a crucial role in shaping the education and development of children and adolescents in the context of schools. The Associate Director for Strategic Outreach and Partnerships is responsible for expanding community relations and informing partners of CPSE’s goals and activities. This person will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement long-term growth strategies for CPSE, determining the best ways to engage with new partners and cultivate and sustain existing relationships in the PreK-12th grade education arena.

The Associate Director will have knowledge of and experience working with our key audience, PreK-12 education, to inform the development of CPSE tools, knowledge, and resources to extend the impact of our work.

As dissemination of our products is essential to our mission, the Associate Director will work closely with APA’s communication team to plan campaigns, and determine the appropriate strategies such as digital projects, visual elements for our websites, and promotional videos necessary to build CPSE’s brand and to extend CPSE’s reach. Additionally, this person will be able to track metrics, and oversee the recruitment and retention of interns. Looking for an individual who demonstrates proficiency in collaborative work, is productive, and takes initiative.
