RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department Chair represents the department of Educational, School, & Counseling Psychology in college, university, and external strategic initiatives. As a tenured faculty member and member of the Educational Psychology Program area, the department chair will be expected to engage in research (i.e., publishing and conference presenting, externally funded projects and proposals), teaching educational psychology graduate courses (with reduced teaching load), supervision of graduate students in Educational Psychology and/or Quantitative and Psychometric Methods graduate programs. Finally, the Department Chair is responsible for duties including, but not limited to: working with graduate program chairs in the recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and retention of students as well as programmatic assessment reports, working with/supervising the Department Support Specialist with course scheduling, faculty workloads, curriculum development, faculty recruitment and appointment; faculty/staff performance evaluation; working with College of Education staff regarding budgetary management, philanthropic efforts, marketing and social media/print advertisement of graduate programs; working with department faculty, students, staff, and postdocs on social justice/diversity, equity, & inclusion initiative planning.

QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in educational psychology or closely-related field with sufficient quantitative/psychometric and/or qualitative knowledge and skills. Administrative and/or leadership experience in PreK-12 or higher education. Distinguished record of success for graduate-level teaching and mentoring, specifically Master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation committee chairing. Distinguished record of publication and research activity qualifying for tenure and promotion at a high research productivity university at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure or Professor with tenure. Demonstrated skills in program development, grant writing, and program reviews. Demonstrated success in working with diverse groups, team building, and cross collaborations within departmental programs and across departments. Demonstrated success with budgetary management, conflict resolution, and staff supervision. Experience securing extramural grant funding is highly desirable.
