The Department of Psychology at Christopher Newport University invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Educational Psychology, effective August 17, 2015. This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment with a teaching load of 4-4. The University is seeking an outstanding instructor committed to undergraduate and graduate education in the context of liberal learning and who will engage students in creative intellectual challenges. Responsibilities include effective teaching and advising/mentoring. The Department of Psychology teaches courses in educational psychology and supports requirements for the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. We are seeking candidates who can teach a variety of courses, such as undergraduate courses in Child Development, Educational Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods; graduate level courses in the MAT program, such as Assessment of Learning, Reading Acquisition and Development, and Exceptional Learners; and courses in the candidate’s specialty area. Preferred candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring students. The terminal degree in Educational Psychology, or a closely related field, is required for appointment at the rank of Lecturer. Individuals who are ABD but will hold the doctorate by the time of appointment will also be considered. Phi Beta Kappa membership is highly desirable.
