The Department of Education wishes to appoint a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in the field of psychology in education and/or mental health and well-being (MHWB) in education. The Department is one of the six founding departments of the University of York and has one of the largest graduate schools of education in the UK.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate who will carry out research in an area of MHWB or psychology applied to educational contexts, and contribute to teaching and supervision on the BPS-accredited BSc and MSc Psychology in Education programmes. The new Lecturer will be a member of the Psychology in Education Research Centre (PERC) http://www.york.ac.uk/education/research/perc/

Candidates must possess a PhD in the relevant field and have a developing track record of research expertise in an area that will complement and enhance the Department’s research strategy and goals. Experience of taking responsibility for teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level is essential, as is the ability to supervise students at Masters and doctoral level.

We are open to applicants from all fields of psychology applied to education, but are especially interested in candidates with research and/or a professional background in MHWB in education (e.g., mental and emotional health in children or adolescents, mental health interventions in schools, trauma and resilience, counselling and therapy, psychopathology). We also encourage applicants to apply who have a background in biological psychology (e.g., brain and behaviour). The ability to contribute to departmental teaching in other areas will be an advantage.

This is a permanent appointment available from 1st September 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. Those interested can learn more—and apply now—at the full posting: https://jobs.york.ac.uk/wd/plsql/wd_portal.show_job?p_web_site_id=3885&p_web_page_id=352383
