The Department of Education Studies (EDST) at the University of Oregon, College of Education is seeking to fill an open rank position, with a preference for an Advanced Assistant or Early Associate professor, in Educational Psychology.
Candidates for this position must have expertise in contemporary educational psychology research and the learning sciences. Strong preference will be given to candidates who also demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: motivation & management; learning, 4teaching, & assessment; creativity in the classroom; evaluation & assessment. Candidates with a track record for promoting equity and inclusion for multicultural and multilingual students, women, and other traditionally underserved populations of students are particularly encouraged to apply. This faculty member will be expected to teach courses related to the psychological foundations of education, the learning and motivation sciences, and learning, teaching, & assessment in the undergraduate as well as graduate programs in EDST. Candidates must have an active research agenda, a strong publication record (commensurate with years in rank), and a track record or evidence of potential to secure external funding. Preference will be given to individuals who have experience with culturally and linguistically diverse populations and to those with K-12 teaching and research experience. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong commitment to pre-service and in-service teacher education.
- Teach courses in educational psychology and the learning sciences based on program and departmental instructional needs.
- Advise graduate students and direct PhD student research.
- Provide consultation to students and faculty.
- Serve on dissertation committees.
- Establish an independent research program leading to publications.
- Contribute to department, college, and university governance.
- Earned doctorate in educational psychology or a related field;
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in educational psychology and the learning sciences (e.g., learning and instructional theory, motivational theory, classroom assessment design-based research, and socio-cultural psychology);
- Evidence of successful teaching experience at the K-12 level;
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness (K-12 and university);
- Evidence of working with culturally, linguistically, and socially diverse student (K-12 and higher education) populations;
- Evidence of preparing pre-service teachers;
- Evidence of ability to conduct research leading to peer reviewed publication;
- Evidence of ability to work with students and faculty in a variety of disciplines; and
- Evidence of strong writing and communication skills.
- Evidence of a sustained and central scholarly focus on equity in education for traditionally underrepresented groups, students of color, indigenous or First Nation communities, or linguistic minority students.
- Expertise in the use of educational technology in the delivery of K-12 and University curriculum.
- Expertise in preparing teachers to serve linguistically, socially, and culturally diverse students.
- Experience in or potential for writing, directing, or participating in externally funded projects.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
