Postdoctoral Research Fellow Supporting Self-regulated Learning Applications in Secondary School Contexts
Position Summary
The Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks to hire a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to engage in ongoing scholarly work related to a National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored grant project titled, Fostering Student Computational Thinking with Self-regulated Learning (Lead PI; Erin Peters- Burton; PI at Rutgers: Timothy J. Cleary). This funded project involves a researcher-practitioner partnership dedicated to integrating self-regulated learning (SRL) and computational thinking (CT) principles and the use of learning analytics technology within the context of data practice activities in high school science curriculum. The position is grant-funded and will begin as early as July 1, 2020. This is a 2-year appointment, with the second year contingent on renewal.
Primary responsibilities of the position include: (a) engaging in collaborative activities to apply SRL and CT principles to high school science curriculum, (b) engaging in quantitative and qualitative data analyses, (c) engaging in professional development activities with high school teachers, and (d) disseminating research through conference presentations and journal articles. The hire will have opportunities to present research at professional conferences, publish journal articles, and attract extramural funding as part of a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary research team (school psychology, educational psychology, science education, and computer science).
Qualifications
Candidates must have a doctorate in School Psychology, Educational Psychology, Science Education, or other related degree in education, and experience in self-regulated learning and/or human motivation. Interpersonal skills for working with school personnel and a collaborative research team are highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience using mixed methods data analytic approaches, and working with school-aged populations in STEM-related areas is preferred.
