The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (https://www.ycei.org) at Yale University, part of the Child Study Center at the Yale School of Medicine, conducts research and teaches people of all ages how to develop their emotional intelligence. Our work focuses on (1) the development of social and emotional skills among diverse populations in education settings and organizations, and (2) the mechanisms by which social and emotional skills and training impact significant life outcomes.
We are seeking a highly motivated, full-time Postdoctoral Associate to join the interdisciplinary research team at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence to support an implementation study of RULER (https://rulerapproach.org) in early childhood settings funded by the Institute of Education Sciences. This study is a collaboration among researchers across several institutions. The Postdoctoral Associate’s primary responsibility will be to lead data and dissemination efforts. Results will directly inform and impact RULER, early childhood education, implementation science, and social and emotional learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with project partners.
- Oversee, conduct, and assist with quantitative analyses, including data management, cleaning, and reporting.
- Interpret and communicate results effectively in various formats.
- Prepare and publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at conferences in areas relevant to the study, possibly in collaboration with other YCEI members.
- Collaborate efficiently and effectively with other researchers.
The Project Director, Dr. Craig Bailey, will oversee day-to-day work assignments and serve as the primary supervisor. The Postdoctoral Associate will have flexibility to develop their specific research focus within the context of the project team’s expertise and the needs of the larger project. The Postdoctoral Associate will benefit from mentorship on academic advancement and participate in multiple professional development trainings and opportunities (e.g., developing public speaking skills, attending YCSC postdoc seminar series, presenting research from the project at conferences).
The Postgraduate Associate position is a full-time appointment for one year, with full benefits, and with the possibility of renewal for a second year, dependent upon performance and availability of funding. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have or demonstrate the following:
- D. in a relevant field or discipline such as psychology, sociology, education, and data science
- Specialization or research experience in the study of implementation science, emotional intelligence or emotions, and/or relevant area
- Competence in quantitative research methods
- Strong analytical skills and use of statistical packages and analyses (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets
- Strong track record of publications and research outputs commensurate with career stage
- Excellent writing skills demonstrated in academic publications
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills, including effective time management
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively (e.g., through writing, presentations) with different audiences (research community, general public)
