This position involves contributing to two multi-site collaborative longitudinal studies of STEM outcomes for adolescents. One study involves longitudinal evaluation of outcomes of youth educator programs in informal science learning sites (museums, zoos and aquariums) funded by the National Science Foundation and the Wellcome Trust. This project has 5 years of data already, with data collection concluding this year. Measures assess outcomes for youth educators as well as the visitors with whom they interact. The second study which is in its 2nd year, involves identifying factors that foster inclusive STEM formal classroom environments for high school students. This project involves cross sectional and longitudinal survey data collection as well as qualitative interviews. This project will also involve intervention development in partnership with high school teachers.  Prior postdocs on the team have gone on to tenure-track positions at excellent R1 universities!

Duties and Responsibilities

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Education, Human Development, or a closely related discipline by time of appointment. In addition, successful applicants will have significant expertise in quantitative methods, including latent variable analyses such as Structural Equation Modeling and Latent Profile Analysis. Interest in qualitative data is also helpful. A significant track record of publication, excellent academic writing skills, and experience with data collection with children, adolescents and families, management, and analysis of large datasets are also important for this project. Essential duties include: The postdoctoral fellow’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: data collection, data management, data analysis, preparation of publications, grant applications, and conference presentations (both collaboratively and as lead author), and supervision and mentoring of graduate students and research assistants.
