The Department of Education is one of the six founding departments of the University of York. As part of the Department’s long-term strategic vision, we are seeking to recruit a new Professor of Psychology in Education. The Department is investing in this area, and has recently appointed two Lecturers in Mental Health and Wellbeing, and is currently recruiting an additional Lecturer in Psychology in Education to complement the Professorial appointment.
If appointed, you will join a collegial and supportive group of staff in the Psychology in Education Research Centre (PERC). You will play part in the Centre’s growth, which provides an exciting opportunity to undertake excellent research in any field of psychology or in mental health and well-being (MHWB) in education.
Key requirements
- PhD in education, psychology or a related discipline
- Wide-ranging knowledge of psychology in an education context
- Expertise in one or more specialist areas of research in psychology in Education
- Experience of leading research teams and involvement in funded projects
- High quality publications in psychology in education, of a standard suitable for inclusion in the next REF
- Proven leadership and managerial skills
- Attraction and effective supervision of postgraduate students
