The School Transition and Academic Readiness (STAR) Project, under the direction of Drs. Esther Leerkes, Susan Calkins and Marion O’Brien in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at UNCG is currently recruiting a full-time Project Manager to begin in July 2013. The STAR Project is an NIH-funded study of mechanisms linking preschool-aged children’s early emotional, cognitive, and social skills to later school success using both physiological and observational measures.

Responsibilities of the Project Manager include managing the day-to-day activities of the project such as: 1) training and supervising staff and students responsible for recruitment, data collection, video coding, task scoring, and data entry; 2) conducting data collection visits with children and families; and 3) developing and overseeing data management procedures.  This position requires occasional evenings and weekends.

Applicants must have a M.A. in human development, psychology, or a related field, prior experience working in a research lab with young children, and knowledge of statistics, research methods, and a variety of computer applications including SPSS, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Applicants should have strong managerial and organizational skills including the ability to multitask, excellent attention to detail, and good communication skills. A 2- year commitment is preferred and an extension beyond this time is possible.  Salary is commensurate with experience; benefits included.
