In support of the campus mission, strategic plans, and values, Queens College seeks to fill one full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology vacancy in the Department of Secondary Education & Youth Services, beginning August 27, 2015.
The Department of Secondary Education & Youth Services offers seven different teacher certification programs (K-12 Art, 7-12 English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, and 5-12 Literacy). Teacher candidates are offered coursework and clinical experiences in middle and high school settings through these New York State accredited programs on the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Responsibilities for the Assistant Faculty position include: Teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in adolescent development, learning, and teaching including fieldwork and clinical practice, conducts research, and advises students. Shares responsibility for committee service and Department, Unit of Education, and Queens College assignments including administrative, supervisory, advisement, and other functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
A doctorate in Educational Psychology or equivalent. ABD candidates with strong qualifications may apply for the position but must complete the doctorate by August 27, 2015. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in adolescent development, learning, and teaching including fieldwork and clinical practice, conduct research, and advise students. Serves on committees in the Department, Unit of Education, and Queens College, including administrative, supervisory, and advisement assignments, and other functions. Also required is evidence of effective teaching in secondary education at the college level. In addition, candidate must demonstrate a well-defined research program in educational psychology. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in assessment and evaluation and/or curriculum and instruction, and clinical experience at the secondary education level. Candidates are required to provide evidence of the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
