The Department of Special Education at The University of Texas at Austin, College of Education, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor level. Duties include developing and maintaining a nationally recognized program of research (supported or with the potential to be supported by external funding); teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level related to ECSE; mentoring graduate students; collaborating with local districts and agencies serving culturally and economically diverse students; and engaging in service to the university and profession. Affiliation with the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk is also negotiable (www.meadowscenter.org). The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in special education or a related field with an emphasis in ECSE. The candidate’s research should focus on issues related to intervention with children at risk and/or children with disabilities and their families. Prior experience working with young diverse students, schools, and families is highly valued. Experience preparing practitioners in evidence-based educational practices in ECSE is desired.
