The College of Education and Human Services at West Virginia University (WVU) invites applications for two (2) nine-month tenure track Assistant Professor positions. Starting date for both is August 16, 2016.

Position 1: Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences — Emphasis in Cognition and Learning
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in learning sciences (e.g., cognitive psychology, educational psychology, or related discipline) by the time of appointment
- Ability to teach face-to-face, online, and hybrid graduate courses
- Defined research agenda and publications commensurate with experience, as indicated by curriculum vita
Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate courses in educational psychology, cognition, learning, memory, or motivation
- Contribute to department and college priorities through collaborative activities with faculty
- Engage in scholarly activities that lead to publication and external funding
- Advise graduate students, serve on students’ committees, and direct doctoral research
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession
Position 2: Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences — Emphasis in Educational Research and Program Evaluation
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in learning sciences, educational psychology, educational research methodology, or other relevant discipline by the time of appointment
- Ability to teach face-to-face, online, and hybrid graduate courses
- Defined research agenda and publications commensurate with experience, as indicated by curriculum vita
Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate courses in educational research methodologies and program evaluation
- Contribute to department and college priorities through collaborative activities with faculty
- Engage in scholarly activities that lead to publication and external funding
- Advise graduate students, serve on students’ committees, and direct doctoral research
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession
Both positions are situated in the Department of Learning Sciences and Human Development. This highly collegial and productive department consists of 16 faculty members across three programs: Child Development and Family Studies; Educational Psychology; and Instructional Design and Technology. The department offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral (Ed.D., Ph.D.) degrees.
Compensation:
Salaries for both positions are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
