The Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for a one-year position in Mathematics Education at the Visiting Assistant Professor level. Starting date is September 1, 2016.
Description: Applicants must have a strong commitment to the preparation and supervision of pre- service mathematics teachers and to the supervision of pre-service teachers. Faculty filling this position will be expected to teach and mentor students in our undergraduate programs in Mathematics Education, the MS program in Mathematics with a concentration in Mathematics Education and the MA program in Teaching Middle Grades Mathematics. Additionally, the faculty member will be the student teaching coordinator, which requires observing and mentoring pre-service middle and high school mathematics teachers. In addition to overseeing the mathematics student teaching program, faculty are expected to teach a broad range of courses at the undergraduate level and a specialized set of courses at the graduate level . Salary is dependent on qualification and experience.
Qualifications: Successful candidates will hold a Doctorate in Mathematics Education with a background in Mathematics at the undergraduate level or a Masters degree with extensive teaching experience. All candidates should demonstrate evidence of effective teaching and scholarly activity. Preferred qualifications include successful teaching at the 7-12 level.
